Malcolm Brown becomes Angel Trains’ CEO

Malcolm Brown has joined Angel Trains as CEO this week, after more than two years with AMP Capital as a Partner in its infrastructure asset management business.

It marks a return to the company for Malcolm, who held the position of CEO between 2008 and 2018. He is also Chair of the Rail Industry Decarbonisation Taskforce and has more than 25 years’ experience in the rail industry. He played a key role in several new-build and refurbishment projects during his previous tenure, notably the £900 million procurement of 665 Bombardier Aventra vehicles for Abellio East Anglia agreed in 2018.

Malcolm said: “Angel Trains has always been at the forefront of investment and innovation, with an unrivalled team of asset managers that really sets the business apart. I am delighted to be back working alongside this talented team, continuing the collaborative efforts needed to address industry challenges, whilst progressing Angel Trains’ decarbonisation strategy and supporting wider efforts towards a greener form of travel in UK rail.”

A post from Angel Trains on Linkedin said: “We are thrilled to have Malcolm at a critical time for the rail industry, as Angel Trains continues to support its customers and partners in delivering sustainable rolling stock that meet the needs of the today’s passengers.”

Malcolm replaces Kevin Tribley, who has retired.

For over two decades, Kevin has been at the heart of Angel Trains’ success and industry-first investments – on its Board for 11 years, as Commercial Director, COO and CEO. Under Kevin’s stewardship, Angel Trains has undertaken an unprecedented programme of asset renewals and enhancements, including recent fast-tracked investment in innovation to deliver green rolling stock technologies.

He said: “I am immensely proud to have been part of such a successful organisation and to have played my role in shaping the business and its achievements during my 21-year career at Angel Trains. I leave the company in very safe hands.”

The company has thanked Kevin for his work.

A post on Linkedin said: “At Angel Trains we have long said that our greatest asset is our people. That is why, today, we are sad to say goodbye to our CEO Kevin Tribley. Kevin has been a big part of the Angel Trains team for over 20 years, previously holding the positions of Commercial Director, COO and then CEO.

“He has played a key role in expanding and re-leasing the company’s portfolio to enhance the rail industry, driving forwards the business’ decarbonisation strategy, as well as creating a company culture that we can all be proud of.

“We wish him all the best as he enjoys his retirement.”
