McCulloch Group commits to developing the workforce

The McCulloch Group have been working through their strategic people ambitions since the appointment of a new leadership team within the business. As part of their commitment to raising standards for staff across the business, with a particular focus on track staff they have successfully developed an industry leading ‘pathways to progression’ programme which facilitates staff progression from track assistants to supervisors and beyond within the business. A key action within this strategy was the appointment of Paul Clay as Training Development Manager to support the further development of the Group’s internal and now external training portfolio.

Following an initial review period under the leadership of Paul, a new role of Workforce Development Manager has been created within the business to support the McCulloch workforce on their journey from track operator assistant through to supervisor. A critical part of the remit includes the identification of and leadership of mentors throughout the operations of the Group. Mentors will support new operators in applying the skills learnt during initial training in a live working environment. Further to this as the business begins a substantial recruitment drive across the UK, the postholder is responsible for ensuring newly trained operatives have a clear and measurable route map for their own development.

The McCulloch Group are delighted to announce that Andrew Parker, Training and Assessment Manager since 2017 and employee of the business since 2004, has successfully been appointed to the role of Workforce Development Manager. Andrew who joined the business as a trainee operative working with the businesses unique TRTTM and Unimog technology has himself experienced the potential career development opportunities the business can offer.

Andrew said: “I am excited to be accepting this role within our business that is committed to improving standards within the industry, as someone who has worked with McCullochs for approaching twenty years I look forward to being a part of the next journey for the business and supporting colleagues to achieve their potential.”

Paul Clay added “The success of the McCulloch brand is unquestionable. With success
comes growth and new opportunity, I see this new job role as the catalyst that will, in no small way, cement the skill and knowledge gained over the past thirty years into the truly exciting future ahead.”

David Girdler, CEO of the McCulloch Group, said: “As a business we’re driven by the core principle of innovation, and we’re known for doing so on the track globally. Following the appointment of our new leadership team within the Group it is encouraging to see we are now driving that spirit of innovation into the standards our workforce can expect in their own careers and progression opportunities. My best wishes go to Andrew as he sets out, with Paul Clay, on establishing this crucial role within the McCulloch Group.”

The McCulloch Group was founded in 1992 by brothers Billy and Danny McCulloch from their south west of Scotland home in Ballantrae, Ayrshire; since then, the business has grown to a global operation delivering and supporting projects in the UK, Australasia, America, Mexico and Europe. As a business employing over 180 people across the UK the McCulloch Group is driving forward its ambition to be seen as an employer of choice within the industry.
