New Changing Places facility opens at Dundee

A new Changing Places facility has opened at Dundee railway station.

Changing Places toilets are much bigger than traditional accessible toilets and are designed to meet the needs of people with complex care needs.

The new free to use accessible toilet in Dundee has an adult-sized, height adjustable changing bench, a hoist and a centrally placed toilet to cater to people who often need extra equipment, space and the help of others to allow them to use a toilet safely and comfortably.

The much called-for facility was installed by ScotRail at platform level in the station and opened to the public on Friday 9 August.

ScotRail Access and Inclusion Manager Andrew Marshall-Roberts said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to provide a Changing Places toilet for our customers using Dundee station.

“Our network is for everyone, and we hope this new facility will give more people with extra needs the confidence to travel by rail.”

Transport Scotland Head of Franchising Andrew Mackie said: “The investment in these Changing Places toilets is a welcome addition to Dundee station, providing facilities for customers with certain additional needs.

“Only by making our facilities more accessible for all customers can we inspire and encourage travel by rail.”
