New point machines for Feltham Depot

Fenix Rail Systems says its work at Feltham Depot is progressing well, with the arrival of the new point machines from  suppliers meaning the installation of the depot’s control system can soon take place.

Fenix Rail Systems is providing its Tie-FenLock 200 Depot Control System for client VolkerFitzpatrick, the contractor currently constructing the Feltham Depot on behalf of South West Trains.

A spokesperson from the company said: “We’re providing a turnkey solution including design, installation, test and commissioning of the system, with the project due for completion in September.

“We’d like to thank our supplier and friend Rainer for the swift and uninterrupted delivery of the point machines and we look forward to undertaking the installation works for VolkerFitzpatrick soon.”

Feltham depot is part of Network Rail’s Feltham Re-Signalling Scheme and is being built in preparation for the revised South Western Railway passenger train timetable in 2020. The new timetable will see an increase in frequency and metro style operations, meaning an increase in stabling capacity is required.

Once built, the depot will provide a brand new stabling facility for up to ten trains, including Bombardier’s new class 701 rolling stock, which are planned to replace some of the existing First MTR rolling stock fleet.
