Northern puts new pup-friendly provisions at 138 stations

Northern is ‘lead’-ing the way, thanks to pup-friendly provisions it is rolling out for its customers’ canine companions.

With warmer weather on the way, dogs are more likely to need to ‘paws’ and get some water. As such, they will be bowled over by drinking points at 138 staffed stations which should keep our best friends fully hydrated.

Mark Powles, customer and commercial director at Northern, said: “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do – whether they are human or canine.

“Dogs are welcome on our services are we want to provide the best journey possible for everyone.”

This latest addition is part of a transformative programme across the rail network.

The train operator’s current campaign, called A Better Way to Go, highlights Northern’s efforts to improve the customer journey experience.

Mark added: “Our A Better Way to Go campaign demonstrates the hard work that has taken place as we continue to transform rail travel in the north, and I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved.”

The campaign, which will be seen in stations, on-trains and online, will also cover improvements such as:

  • A new fleet of 100 state-of-the-art trains
  • A further 240 trains refurbished
  • A mobility scooter policy
  • The roll-out of bodycam units
  • Better CCTV on board and in stations
  • Car park refurbishments
