Northern releases a further 500,000 Flash Sale tickets

Train operator Northern has released a further 500,000 tickets as part of its January ‘Flash Sale’. Tickets on some of its most popular routes are 50p, with the sale closing at 4pm tomorrow (Friday).

New journeys up for grabs (in both directions) at the 50p, £1 and £1.50 Flash Sale rate include: Leeds to Sheffield (from 30 January), Leeds to Manchester (midweek), Sheffield to Manchester (midweek), Leeds to Nottingham (midweek), Buxton to Stockport and Bishop Auckland to Middlesbrough.

Tickets are valid for travel between Tuesday, 17 January and Friday, 10 March on Northern services only. They are available at www.northernrailway.co.uk and via the Northern app.

Mark Powles, commercial and customer director at Northern, said: “We’ve had an amazing response to our January Flash Sale – hence the decision to release a further 500,000 tickets and add a number of new routes into the mix. That said, all good things must come to an end and the sale will close at 4pm tomorrow, so customers should book now to avoid disappointment.”

Earlier this week, Rail Minister, Huw Merriman, praised Northern’s Flash Sale, saying: “We need to get people back on our railways and initiatives like this will do just that.”

Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with nearly 2,500 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.

Northern’s new timetable came into effect in December 2022 and all customers, especially those who have made regular journeys on specific train times, are advised to use the new Check My Timetable‘ feature on Northern’s website to see changes specific to their local station.
