Orchestra delivers its Christmas message with the help of ScotRail

ScotRail has helped the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) deliver its Christmas message, providing it with a railway setting for its 2021 video.

ScotRail is the orchestra’s principal transport partner. Having worked in this way for more than a decade, commuters have enjoyed pop-up performances from the orchestra at railway stations and on trains on numerous occasions.

The partnership reduces the environmental impact of the RSNO’s touring schedule, encourages concertgoers to take the train to concerts, and supports ScotRail’s commercial activities across Scotland.

The Christmas message video features a quintet of RSNO principal brass players as they make their way from a ScotRail train in Glasgow Queen Street station to the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

Ros Houldsworth, ScotRail community liaison executive, said: “ScotRail has an excellent partnership with the RSNO that helps musicians travel the length and breadth of Scotland’s Railway for performances and concerts, and we’re proud to have been their principal transport partner for more than a decade.

“Our partnership ensures that the talented musicians of the RSNO arrive fresh and ready to deliver the world-class performances that they are famous for.

“Rail is the most environmentally friendly way to travel, so it’s fitting that we have been able to help deliver this environmentally friendly Christmas message.”

Alistair Mackie, RSNO chief executive, said: “On behalf of everyone at the RSNO, I want to wish our friends and supporters a very merry Christmas.

“We are delighted to partner with ScotRail to deliver our Christmas message this year. As our principal transport provider, ScotRail’s support this year has been invaluable, helping us to successfully return to live performance across the country while reducing the environmental impact of the Orchestra’s work.

“We look forward to many more opportunities to work together in 2022!”
