The Transport Benevolent Fund CIO (TBF) offers support to those working in public transport industry if they should find themselves in a situation of need, hardship or distress. Members pay £1 a week (usually through their payroll facility), giving the member, their partner and dependent children access to a wide range of health, welfare and financial benefits.

Rupert Brennan Brown, Porterbrook’s Head of Communications and Engagement said: “We are delighted to join with industry partners to support the Transport Benevolent Fund’s annual Rail Staff Carol service. This event brings together the railway family and friends and helps us to remember those amongst our number who have to work over the Christmas period operating or upgrading the network.”

John Sheehy, TBF CEO, said: “We are most grateful for the support of all our sponsors and the local Somers Town community, all of whom help grow this joyous event year-on-year. Proceeds from the service help TBF support its members who, no matter what time of year, find themselves in need. The relevance of the fund’s work is best illustrated by the volume of awards to members, which, over the past 12 months total more than £2.8 million.”
