PTSG acquires specialist services business, NSS

Premier Technical Services Group (PTSG), the UK’s leading provider of niche specialist services to the construction and facility management sectors, has completed the acquisition of North West-headquartered Nationwide Specialist Services (NSS).

NSS is a nationwide specialist services provider, covering all aspects of external building maintenance – including window and technical cleaning, testing and platform hire – with customers across the retail, commercial property, events, healthcare and distribution sectors.

NSS has established itself as a market leader because of its commitment to offering self-delivered services, 24/7, across the UK without using sub-contractors or hiring equipment or machinery. This, with an outstanding reputation for working at height and in the safest way has led to impressive blue-chip client retention and development.

Over the last five years, NSS has made four acquisitions to expand its geographical footprint and specialisms, grow its fleet and enter new markets. EBITDA has also grown five-fold during BGF’s investment period. Today’s announcement creates a combined business employing 2,300 people across 47 sites and ensures enhanced national coverage for customers.

PTSG operates five discrete but complementary divisions: Access & Safety, Electrical Services (including Britain’s biggest lightning protection business), Building Access Specialists, Fire Solutions and Water Treatment. The company currently serves more than 20,000 customers nationwide.

Headquartered in West Yorkshire, PTSG is jointly owned by leading global growth investors, Warburg Pincus and Macquarie Capital Principal Finance, both entering into an agreement to acquire a combined majority stake in the business in May 2021.

Paul Teasdale, PTSG’s Group CEO, said: “We are delighted to have acquired NSS and warmly welcome the team to the PTSG family. This fantastic acquisition increases the capacity of PTSG’s experienced Building Access Specialists team, complementing the work of our highly trained specialists who excel in all access methods – cleaning, repairing and maintaining every kind of building and structure.

“Having followed NSS’s impressive progress in recent years, this acquisition will help to cement our position as the UK’s leading niche specialist services provider. We look forward to supporting NSS to reach its full potential.”

Niel Bethell, CEO at NSS, said: “In PTSG, we’ve found the ideal home for NSS as their values match ours and they have the same uncompromising commitment to customer service and working in the safest way. Paul and his team have taken a keen interest in our progress over the years, so this feels like the perfect partnership.

“For me personally, this has been a 25-year journey from identifying the opportunity to leading the business we are today. I’m very proud to celebrate this milestone with some of the same team and grateful to every colleague who has played their role in our success. BGF’s funding allowed us to accelerate our plans to rapidly expand over the past five years. In this time, we’ve really grown up as a business – investing in our people, equipment, and technology.

“Today’s deal is a statement of intent for the future and provides significant benefits for our team and customers now we’re part of a much bigger yet still entrepreneurial organisation. We look forward to working with our new colleagues to achieve our shared ambitions.”
