Rail customer experience consultancy swings into action for charities

Rail organisers are being invited to tee off with some top ex-international rugby players including Serge Betsen, Thom Evans and Delon Armitage.

The charity golf day, organised by Customer Plus, is offering teams of three to play 18 holes of golf, with a rugby legend, including brunch and supper at the Chevin Golf Club in Derby.

The event takes place on August 6, raising funds for three Derby charities – Derby City Mission, Children First Derby and Treats. It costs £300 per team.

Richard Beevers, Director at Customer Plus and the organiser of the event, said: “The aim of the event is to not just raise money, but also spirits by being genuinely enjoyable. We are raising funds for three really great charities.

“This is a great opportunity to tee off with a rugby legend for a round of golf, whilst raising vital funds for some really important organisations.”

The event is part of the 100 World Legends Derby Charity 10s, which is also bringing 25 top ex-international rugby players to Derby to play in a 10-a-side competition involving local clubs.

The Legends will be fundraising for local charities including:

· Derby City Mission – providing housing, shelter, food, and debt advice for people in crisis.

· Children First Derby – a Derby-based charity which works with vulnerable children, young people and families to make a positive impact on their lives and the local community.

· Treats – established for over 30 years, Treats has raised more than £500,000 to help hundreds of children who are deprived or have special needs with dream-come-true gifts, gadgets, trips and toys.

The Legends are working with Umbro, The Barefoot Project and the Serge Betsen Foundation to supply brand new rugby boots as rewards for community achievement in South Africa, Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi and The Pacific Islands.

This will be the Legends’ second visit to Derby following a successful event in 2019, illustrated below, which raised over £6,000.

Richard added: “This is your opportunity to get up close and personal with true legends of rugby with a squad featuring seven British and Irish Lions and over 1,100 international caps.”
