Rail Director: Helen Samuels – heading up the ‘ultimate in civil engineering’

The new managing director of the EFKB Joint Venture, delivering sections of HS2 Phase One, has described the role as “very special”.

Helen Samuels is the cover feature of the latest edition of Rail Director which can now be read for free online by clicking here.

She told the magazine: “I’m not new to senior leadership and I’m used to running very big teams and being very passionate about people, but this is a particular enormous project in terms of the scale.

“This is the ultimate in civil engineering and I’m a heavy infrastructure girl.

“This project presents the opportunity to do something never done before on a grand scale.”

Helen is one of a whole host of high-profile interviews that can be read in the magazine covering everything from track to train. Among the features also includes Chris Connelly, deputy chief executive officer and rail director at Nuclear Transport Solutions, Transport for the North’s chief executive Martin Tugwell and the Rail Delivery Group’s accessibility and inclusion manager Dominic Lund-Conlon.

Rail Director’s Danny Longhorn said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed putting together the latest Rail Director and getting to speak to so many inspirational leaders playing their part in the rail industry’s success.

“A huge thanks to those who have supported the latest magazine, from those who have contributed, to those who have taken the time to read the magazine.”
