Rail Forum charity donations well over par

A record charitable donation of £4,000 has been made by the Rail Forum following the Annual Charity Golf Day, which was held on 8 July at Branston Golf Club, Staffordshire.

The day saw 28 teams, made up of member companies and their guests, compete over the 18-hole course for the Neil Harvey Memorial trophy.

Money raised from the event has been split between two nominated charities: Railway Mission and The Haven Refuge.

Mike Roberts, chaplain at Railway Mission said: “We are always running with a budget that stretches us and the work we do, therefore when we are supported by organisations and companies from the wider rail industry it is especially appreciated and also a sign of affirmation of the work that we are able to do within the supply chain and some SMEs. The donation will go a long way in resourcing the support we give across the industry.”

Jade Secker, fundraising manager at The Haven said: “The donation will support and enable services at The Haven to continue to help women and children fleeing from domestic abuse, trauma and homelessness. The kind donation will help women build strong and safe futures for themselves and their children and will play a vital part in helping them to finally feel safe and empower them to rebuild a life they truly love; we could not do this without this kind generosity.”

Elaine Clark, CEO of Rail Forum added: “We would like to thank all the teams that took part in our golf day. We raised an amazing and record breaking amount enabling us to support The Haven and Railway Mission which are two very worthwhile charities. A special thanks also goes to our event sponsors, WH Davis and TVS SCS. We are already looking forward to next year which will see us move to the highly prestigious Horsley Lodge Championship Course.”
