Rail Forum and the International Institute of Obsolescence Management (IIOM UK) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Rail Forum’s Vehicle Maintenance event on Thursday 14th November 2024.
IIOM provide a platform across multiple sectors to support the continual improvement in obsolescence management thus enabling key and strategic developments from other sectors in this field to the benefit of the rail sector. Through this partnership, Rail Forum says it can help its members efforts to mitigate the impact of obsolescence across rail assets and operations by raising IIOM UK profile, sharing relevant information and news, and providing opportunities for members of both organisations to come together.
Manu Grundy, Chief Technical Officer at IIOM UK, said: “IIOM UK is delighted to partner with Rail Forum UK to advance the science and practice of obsolescence management within the rail sector. This strategic partnership strengthens our shared commitment to expanding the obsolescence management network and empowering members with enhanced resources to improve their professional competence. Together, we aim to drive sustainable solutions for the challenges facing today’s rail industry.”
Cat Appleby, Membership & Engagement Director at Rail Forum said: “We are thrilled to sign an MoU with IIOM UK. A formal collaboration will unlock new opportunities, allow us to jointly promote knowledge sharing for obsolescence topics in rail and strengthen maintenance strategies.”
IIOM UK are speaking at Rail Forum’s member-hosted Locomotive Maintenance event on 27 February 2025.
