Railway Family Week: How to Get Involved

Railway Family Week is a fundraising and awareness campaign organised and hosted by the Railway Benefit Fund. Founded in 2021, Railway Family Week has a simple aim; to bring together the entire industry to raise £50,000 for RBF. This year, there are plenty of ways to get involved and show your support for the Railway Family.

Big Railway Family Week Challenge

New for 2023, RBF are launching the Big Railway Family Week Challenge. The charity is looking for teams to help them cover the length of the UK by getting active; whether it’s walking, running, swimming or any other form of physical activity. Team members track their real-world activity along a virtual route in the step challenge app, which sees them move along the map of the UK.

While the aim of the challenge is to work together to complete this distance, there will also be a competitive element, as the team who completes the most miles during the challenge will win a prize! Current teams taking part in the challenge include Freightliner, Amaro and RSSB. Find out more: https://www.railwaybenefitfund.org.uk/bigchallenge/

Auction of Experiences

The charity’s Auction of Experiences is now live, with plenty of money-can’t-buy experiences available to bid for. There are some incredible prizes up for grabs, including an Elizabeth line cab ride, behind the scenes station visits, a tour of the British Transport Police dog school and even a day with Pete Waterman and his award-winning model railway.

Bidding closes on Thursday 4th May, with new experiences being added daily.

Hornby Daily Draw

Everyday during Railway Family Week RBF will be giving away an Hornby prize. To be in with a chance to win, simply purchase tickets, starting at just £5. Each day a winner will be randomly selected, and a Hornby item will be heading their way.

Why Support Railway Family Week?

The last 12 months have been particularly difficult for the rail industry, and RBF have had their services called on like never before. In 2022, they supported over 1,000 railway people and their families with financial grants, debt advice and legal help. In addition, they launched a new Energy Fund to support with the cost-of-living crisis and increase in energy bills.

All money raised from Railway Family Week will go directly to supporting current, former and retired railway people and their families across the UK.
