Raspberry Software to unveil new unified revenue protection system at third annual seminar

Raspberry Software will unveil a new unified revenue protection system for train operating companies at its third annual Revenue Protection Seminar in Birmingham on 15 October.

The event will bring together around 80 senior rail industry representatives, giving them the chance to learn, share experiences, and explore how technology, collaboration and cross-industry knowledge can support more effective approaches to revenue protection.

Raspberry Software said this year’s seminar came at a challenging time for revenue protection teams, who are facing an increasingly complex operating environment. Fraud methodologies are evolving alongside the growing use of tap-and-go and other contactless payment methods, while many teams continue to rely on manual processes to investigate and manage fraudulent activity.

It added that the scale of the challenge was significant, with the Rail Delivery Group previously estimating that between £350 million and £400 million is lost each year through fraud and ticketless travel.

In response, Raspberry Software has developed a new unified software system that brings existing penalty and prosecution processes together into a single software application. It said this new system allowed TOCS to make amendments quickly and cost-effectively in response to future changes in regulation and industry requirements.

The system builds on recent work to develop Raspberry Software’s revenue protection technology, including the launch of its Fraud Module in August. The module brings fraud-related data and processes together in one system, helping teams identify, investigate and manage increasingly complex cases.

Peter Jarvis, CEO at Raspberry Software, says: “Revenue protection is evolving rapidly, whether that’s because of new payment technologies, evolving fraud methods, changes in regulation or the increasing complexity of the cases teams are dealing with.

“That makes it more important than ever for the industry to share experience and look at what is working in practice.

“Our seminar has grown considerably since we launched it, which reflects the appetite across the industry for open discussion and practical knowledge sharing. This year, we’re particularly pleased to be bringing together representatives from both rail and tram, alongside unveiling our latest technology.”

Attendees will also hear from Jake Micsak of Waynova Group, who will discuss the group’s global rail technology offering and its benefits for the UK market. Two interactive workshops will also give delegates the opportunity to discuss practical revenue protection challenges, share experiences and explore how approaches differ across organisations.

For the first time, the event will welcome senior representatives from the tram sector, reflecting the increasingly complex revenue protection environment across different forms of public transport.

Jarvis added: “The seminar isn’t simply about showcasing Raspberry Software. It’s about creating a forum where people working in revenue protection can have honest conversations about the challenges they face, learn from one another and consider what the future needs to look like.

“That dialogue is essential if we are going to develop more effective and sustainable approaches to revenue protection across the transport network.”

The Revenue Protection Seminar takes place at the Burlington Hotel in Birmingham on 15 October.
