Reliability improvements completed for East London passengers

Work to cut delays and boost reliability for passengers travelling between London, Enfield Town and Cambridge is now finished.

Engineers carried out the work on weekends in June. It included:

  • Renewal of a crossing unit and a turnout unit at Seven Sisters, these are pieces of track that allow trains to move from one line to another.
  • Structure repairs to Seven Sisters Road (A503) were also carried out during the closure.
  • Buffer stops were also upgraded at Enfield Town.

This work is essential to keep services running safely and reliably and to reduce the number of track related delays on this busy rail line.

Ellie Burrows, Network Rail’s route director for Anglia, said: “This work will reduce the number of track issues in this region which will prevent delays on this busy line. We’re committed to improving reliability and driving down delays and cancellations for our passengers across London and Anglia.”

Follow up works will take place over the next two weekends. Passengers are advised to check before they travel at www.nationalrail.co.uk

Follow up work will take place on the following weekends between London Liverpool Street and Cheshunt:

  • Sunday 10 July
  • Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 July

Work continues between Gospel Oak and Barking on the following weekends:

  • Sunday 10 July
  • Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 July

Passengers should check with their train operator for the latest information.
