The Railway Industry Association (RIA) Innovation Conference won an Award in the Best Longstanding Association Event for its size at the Association Excellence Awards (AEA). In a highly competitive category with eight shortlisted candidates the judges highlighted the strength of the RIA entry citing the variety of the programme and described the conference as “outperforming its budget.”

Further comments drew attention to the positive transformation of the conference over time with the judges saying, “the before and after pictures shows well how the event has changed over 13 years with growth in breadth, significance and diversity.”

Commenting, Darren Caplan, Chief Executive of the Railway Industry Association, “We are proud to receive this award from peers across various trade associations and a variety of other sectors. The recognition is not just good for RIA but also for the railway industry and innovation in it more widely.

“The team, led by RIA Innovation Director Milda Manomaityte and Senior Marketing & Events Manager Grace Smithen, have done a fantastic job in growing and evolving the RIA Innovation Conference (RIC) into the dynamic and multifaceted event today, and this recognition will only inspire and encourage us further to make our next RIC an even better one, at the ICC Wales, Newport, on 26-27 March 2024!”
