RIA’s Award Winning Innovation Conference is back – and this time it’s going virtual!

The Railway Industry Association’s (RIA) flagship Innovation Conference has, for more than a decade, been the go-to event for innovators, problem solvers and industry leaders to discuss the opportunities and challenges for our railway network.

Bringing more than 300 industry professionals together, regular participants include Network Rail, Transport for London, HS2, DfT, BEIS, ORR, Train Operating Companies, Rail Delivery Group, RSSB, UKTram, UK Rail Research & Innovation Network, Transport Systems Catapult, KTN and InnovateUK.

Each year, the Conference has a stellar line up of industry leaders and decision makers speaking, as well as workshops and interactive sessions where new ideas can be formed, connections made and business opportunities developed. The agenda often combines not only speakers from leadership roles in rail, but also those from outside the sector, supporting cross-industry learning and helping inspire rail professionals with new methods of thinking.

This year’s theme is Railway of the Future, exploring the upcoming trends and developments the industry will face as it comes back from the Coronavirus pandemic. Network Rail Chief Executive Andrew Haines OBE is confirmed as one of the keynote speakers, with many more thought-provoking live-streamed sessions and pre-recorded material to watch during the week.

This year, the Conference is going online for the first time ever and will contain a virtual platform that will give attendees the feeling of being in a real venue. Visitors will be able to visit the immersive exhibitors’ booths through the Exhibition hall area. Exhibitors will be able to pre-book meetings, chat and video call with attendees. And whilst we may not be able to meet in person, the event will be providing a host of networking tools, as well as surprises delivered to your door.

If all that doesn’t convince you, have a look at the Conference’s past record – it won the Trade Association Forum’s Best Conference Award in 2018 and MEMCOM’s Best Membership Event of the Year in 2020!
