RSSB’s Thought Leader video updates kicks off with Tom Lee talking rail standards

The Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) has worked collaboratively with the industry to make Britain’s railway safer, more sustainable and more efficient since 2003.

Their cross-industry groups and committees are heavily involved in this effort, with the vast majority of RSSB’s services and resources being overseen, governed, commissioned or approved by them.

Through the Rail Leader video series, the RSSB provides headlines from the major business areas, groups and committees they work within, focusing on some of the areas that matter most to industry: rail standards, safety, health & wellbeing, sustainability, and research & development.

Kicking off with rail standards, in this first video, Tom Lee, director of standards at RSSB, talks about the recent changes to standards and what they mean for industry, including savings of more than £25 million. He also outlines the organisation’s priorities in the coming weeks and encourages you to influence standards through consultation processes.

In the next Rail Leader Update video, available on Monday 28 November, Ann Mills, deputy director, system safety and health, will share the latest outputs from the System Safety Risk Group and its network of cross-industry groups.

In the meantime, you can find out more about the  work that the RSSB’s standards committees do through the Industry Standards Coordination Committee.
