ScotRail is cutting fares so less people take the 10:51 from Inverness to Edinburgh

ScotRail is urging people to skip the 10:51 train from Inverness to Edinburgh.

In short, the train is busy, and the operator has said there are no ways for them to add more carriages because its fleet is being fully utilised.

The train is apparently popular with tourists and travel groups, which like to take the route because of the stunning scenery like the Drumochter Pass in the Highlands – and the 10:51 service apparently poses a challenge because of its popularity.

ScotRail says that sometimes the number of people who have booked a ticket have exceeded the number of spaces.

Consequently, with no way of adding more seats, the operator has made more of its lower-priced tickets available on alternative services.

It says that by using the 08:45 or 09:42 service, passengers have a chance of saving up to 60% of the cost of an Anytime Day Single, with an Advance ticket. The downside is that passengers need to change at Perth or Stirling, and the journey will take longer. However ScotRail looks at the sunny side by saying that you will make it to Edinburgh earlier “giving you more time to explore”.
