The Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps, has launched his bid to become the next Prime Minister.
He publicised his play for the leadership on social media and in the newspapers over the weekend.
“I am a problem solver, with a proven record of delivery,” he said. “Our country faces huge challenges, but with the right leader our best days can still lie ahead.
“My case for the leadership is simple. I can plan. I can communicate. I can campaign. I can deliver. And I can win an election for our party in tough times.”
He told the Sunday Times: “I have not spent the last few turbulent years plotting or briefing against the Prime Minister.”
He said Boris Johnson had a “unique connection” with people.
He will push for a lower tax and lower regulation economy.
