Siemens Mobility and DB Cargo expand cooperation

DB Cargo and Siemens mobility are extending their cooperation on condition-based and predictive maintenance.

Their work together is now contracted to run until the end of 2024 and also includes 130 Vectron locomotives.

The agreement began in 2019. It marked the first time in Europe that a manufacturer and a railway company joined forces to continuously exchange and evaluate the condition data of locomotives following their delivery.

The cooperation aims to increase the availability and ensuing economic efficiency of the locomotives and use the information gained through data analytics to further optimise maintenance processes and the locomotives.

The digital services cooperation now covers nearly 300 locomotives. Along with the more than 250 locomotives of the 189 and 152 series, the Vectron fleet has also been included in predictive maintenance and servicing since the beginning of this year.

Adam Leitner, head of customer services Germany at Siemens Mobility, said: “Intelligent data acquisition and analytics are the basis for predictive maintenance and thus the key to ensuring maximum availability and optimized lifecycle costs.

“We’re pleased that we’ll be continuing our successful cooperation with DB Cargo AG in the future-focused area of digital services in the coming years.”
