Siemens Mobility awards major Victoria Resignalling civils contract to RCU Solutions

RCU Solutions has been awarded one of its largest rail contracts by Siemens Mobility.

The specialists in complex, multi-disciplinary projects will carry out a lot of the civils work for Phase 3 of Victoria resignalling programme.

The project forms part of Network Rail’s £750 million Sussex Railway Upgrade Plan, which will see aging equipment across the region replaced by new, reliable network-based digital signalling and train control solutions.

Glenn Clark, Managing Director at RCU Solutions, said: “This contract is a big achievement and recognition of our capabilities to deliver the big rail projects.

“Our work involves everything from the Relocatable Equipment Buildings (REBs) Principal Supply Point (PSP) bases, through to the ground troughing routes.”

Phase 3 covers the area between Victoria and Streatham Hill, as well as the West London Lines from Clapham Junction towards Shepherd’s Bush.

RCU has been contracted by Siemens Mobility, which is responsible for all signalling, telecoms, civil engineering, electrification, and plant, new trackside 650V feeder and associated principal supply points and associated track works.

The final Phase 3 commissioning is scheduled to take place with a nine-day blockade over Christmas and New Year 2022.

Glenn continued: “It is exciting to be working on projects like this and working on longer term projects has allowed us to bring in industry experts who can help us deliver on time and on budget and build on the vast experience we already have.

“This could open up further opportunities for us and really cement our position in the rail industry as the go to company to deliver innovative design and build projects as well as being able to supply highly-skilled labour across the UK rail network.”

It is the latest success story for RCU Solutions, which has also seen considerable growth in the utilities sector.

Last month the company was appointed to work in partnership with Lightspeed Broadband, commencing fibre roll out across South Lincolnshire.

Lightspeed aims to bring its fibre optic directly to 100,000 homes and businesses across the East of England by 2022, with ambitions to expand and reach 1 million homes by 2025.

The company has drawn on RCU Solutions’ specialist telecoms division, which delivers effective planning, build and maintenance of the telecom’s infrastructure to the highest possible standards.
