SLC’s MD reaches the final in Director of the Year Awards

SLC is delighted that its MD, Ian Walters, has been declared a finalist at this year’s 2020 Midlands Director of the Year Awards.

The finalists are drawn from across the East and West Midlands, representing the full spectrum and diversity of industry, from young entrepreneurs to experienced leaders.

Ian set up Sable Leigh Consultancy (SLC Rail) over a decade ago and the company has gone on to make a big difference to the railway industry in the UK through creating new stations, writing strategic rail strategies for local authorities, driving the case to re-open the Northumberland line and much more.

Ian, who is shortlisted in the SME Category, said: “I’m extremely proud of everything that everyone in SLC has achieved, particularly in the last 12 months, where we’ve had to adapt to new ways of working and leading, so to be shortlisted for this award means a lot to me personally.”

Brian Hall, chair, IoD West Midlands, said: “Now, more than ever, it is imperative that we celebrate directors and their achievements, showcasing those at the forefront of leadership excellence. Congratulations to everyone who has made this shortlist, which is a fantastic achievement in itself.”

This is the first time that the IoD East and West Midlands regions have joined forces for the prestigious awards. The winners will be revealed at a virtual awards ceremony, streamed live at 5pm on 12 November.
