Women in Rail has announced that television presenter and mental health advocate, Gail Porter, will be hosting next year’s prestigious Women in Rail Awards.
Born and raised in Edinburgh, Gail Porter’s career began behind the scenes in television production before she made a bold transition to presenting. Over the years, she has built an extraordinary career that spans television presenting, modelling and advocacy, earning her a place as one of the most iconic and respected figures in British media.
In addition to her television success, Gail has been an outspoken advocate for mental health, drawing on her own experiences with alopecia totalis and challenges, and becoming an inspiring voice for resilience and inclusivity.

“Gail’s powerful advocacy for mental health and her courageous openness in sharing personal experiences are truly inspiring. We are excited to welcome her to the event, as her warmth, humour, and strength will undoubtedly contribute to an unforgettable and celebratory evening.”
The Women in Rail Awards showcase and reward individuals and companies, large and small, who have made a significant contribution to improving gender balance, diversity and inclusion in the UK railway industry.
As in previous years, the 2025 awards ceremony delivered by Nimble Media, will be held at the historic Roundhouse in Camden, London, on 15 May 2025.
Nominations are now open, with three new categories added to this year’s celebrations: Best Network Group Driving Gender Equity and Intersectionality, Male Ally of the Year and Inspirational Frontline Woman of the Year.
The deadline to place nominations is Friday 31 January 2025.
