The Shakespeare Express returns to the mainline this summer with William Shakespeare on board!

The Shakespeare Express returns to the mainline in 2019 with a new schedule and new dining features – a choice of a gourmet picnic hamper or picnic box for either lunch or afternoon tea.  Choose to start in Birmingham with time in Stratford before you return north later in the day or take a steam trip from Stratford to Birmingham and enjoy a picnic lunch on the journey – the choice is yours.

We are very pleased to announce that William Shakespeare has agreed to join the train, reciting sonnets as he passes through the coaches on all journeys.

 

Birmingham Snow Hill to Stratford-upon-Avon and return

Enjoy a return trip to world famous Stratford-upon-Avon with hot breakfast rolls on the way.  In Stratford you have around 4 hours to explore before we take you back to your start point. Treat yourself to an afternoon tea picnic box containing a selection of sandwiches, cake and scones with jam and cream (£19.50 per person) to unpack in Stratford or eat on the journey back to Birmingham.

Return Ticket Prices: Standard Class £35 per person; First Class £50 per person, including a light breakfast.  Every adult ticket holder can bring a child of 12 years or under free of charge.

 

Stratford-upon-Avon to Birmingham and return

The great alternative for residents or tourists in the areas of Stratford and South Warwickshire is a steam trip to central Birmingham and back, enjoying a superb picnic lunch on the way, presented in a traditional wicker hamper for you to unpack, enjoy and keep. Your hamper includes a premium selection of freshly prepared seasonal dishes for £49 per-person hamper (£89 for two).

7029 Clun Castle will haul the train on all but August 4th when Jubilee class 45596 Bahamas will take charge. The route out takes us from Birmingham via Henley-in-Arden on the Shakespeare Line to Stratford and returns via Hatton and the Chiltern Mainline for a sprint back to Birmingham.

Birmingham departures are 10.00 and 13.56.  Stratford departures are 12.36 and 16.13.
