Three major new orders as Knorr-Bremse becomes selected systems partner for new Alstom Coradia Stream train family

Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking systems and other rail and commercial vehicle systems, has further strengthened an existing partnership with Alstom that aims to deliver safe, sustainable and efficient rail transportation.

Under a recently signed framework contract, Knorr-Bremse will enjoy a conditional exclusivity until at least 2025 for trains sourced from the high-performance, versatile Coradia Stream train family. The contract includes an option for a three-year extension until 2028.

Starting in 2022, Knorr-Bremse will supply braking, entrance and climate control systems for three major regional transportation projects for operators Trenitalia (Italy) and Danske Statsbaner (DSB, Denmark), as well as the Expresskreuz Bremennetwork (LNVG) in Germany. It is anticipated that the work will continue into 2024.

Dr. Jürgen Wilder, Member of the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG and responsible for the Rail Vehicle Systems division, said: “The transition to more sustainable modes of transportation means that demand for clean, reliable and available rail transportation in Europe is set to continue unabated.

“Leading rail operators, vehicle manufacturers and systems suppliers such as Knorr-Bremse are acknowledging this trend by investing in sustainable modern rail infrastructure and systems.

“We are delighted to have signed this framework contract, which consolidates our close, long-standing relationship with our customer Alstom, strengthens our status as a partner in the important and prestigious platform business, and contributes to the realisation of tomorrow’s key mobility solutions.”
