Tidyco invests in the acquisition and renovation of a neighbouring unit

Tidyco, a leading company in the production of hose assemblies for the rail industry, has acquired an adjacent unit to house the expansion of its overhaul and refurbishment department. In order to make the building fit for purpose, renovations are nearing completion with an official opening scheduled next month.

At the beginning of the year, the decision was made to acquire the adjacent space (Unit 6) of Tidyco’s existing location once the rental lease of the previous business was due to come to an end. The purpose of this is to house the firm’s expansion of its overhaul and refurbishment of rolling stock components, which is managed and operated by the Tidyco Rail Division.

Rail Division Director, Paul Jacks, said: “Over the past few years we have worked tirelessly towards establishing an overhaul and refurb department within the rail division. We are starting to see our efforts pay off, which is why we needed to consider extending our premises. When we found out about the lease for the adjoining unit, it made perfect sense to move into there.”

James Tidy, Managing Director, added: “This really is a testament to the relentless determination of the rail division despite the incredibly difficult times brought about by the pandemic. I am immensely proud and optimistic of what they’ve achieved. This is a really exciting time for Tidyco.”

Redevelopment of the interior and exterior commenced in May this year under the supervision of Production Director, Phil Mason.

Phil explains the extent of what has been involved in getting the building ready. He said: “Quite a bit has happened since we got the keys but major changes include removing old racking and partition walls amongst other things, creating additional office and storage space as well as having a made-to-order overhead crane installed.

“As part of our move to ISO 14001 we installed a highly efficient heating system as well as a state of the art lighting set up. Outside we have resurfaced the parking area and installed a charging point for EVs.”

The official opening is expected to be in mid-November. For more information about the rail division, visit www.tidyco.co.uk/rail.
