UKTram has appointed Tim Bilby as Stakeholder & Innovation Manager, strengthening its capacity to support innovation and engagement across the light rail sector.
Tim joins UKTram with more than decade of experience with Sheffield Supertram, where he began in 2012 as Head of Finance and Commercial and went on to serve as Managing Director from 2017. Tim led the operation through periods of change and challenge, earning a strong reputation for inclusive leadership and promoting a supportive, people-focused culture. More recently he has undertaken Safety and Finance roles with Network Rail.
In his new role at UKTram, Tim will lead stakeholder engagement activity, support collaboration between members and partners and help promote innovation that delivers practical benefits for the sector. The role also includes co-ordinating engagement events and best practice activity, strengthening links with statutory bodies and academia and representing UKTram at industry forums.
Tim brings with him operational insight and a strong understanding of the needs and priorities of operators, owners and partners across the sector.

As a sector that has shown it can be agile and flexible to implement change, I believe we can deliver some fantastic innovation to help provide even better service and outcomes.”
Tim’s appointment builds on UKTram’s continued organisational growth. Over the past year, the team has expanded to enhance member support and sector capability, including the appointment of Dan Hill as Knowledge Manager and Chelsea Branch as Digital Marketing and Communications Manager.
