TransPennine Express supports Malton station’s biodiversity project

TransPennine Express (TPE) has supported biodiversity work at Malton railway station, donating £5,000 to the project.

TPE said volunteers from Malton in Bloom had transformed the station with seasonal planting, colourful borders and pollinator-friendly blooms. The operator made an initial donation of £5,000 last year.

Its latest donation will enable volunteers to add to the station’s green spaces, introducing new planting schemes and wildlife habitats for bees, butterflies, and other key species.

The money comes from TPE’s Customer and Community Improvement Fund, which supports projects focused on sustainability, community connection, and accessibility.

Andrew Watkins, Community and Development Manager at TransPennine Express, said: “We’re delighted to continue our partnership with Malton in Bloom and support their dedication to improving the local environment.

“At TPE, we’re committed to building a more sustainable railway, and projects like this showcase what can be achieved when communities and transport services work together.”

Gail Cook, Clerk at Malton Town Council, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to TransPennine Express for their continued support. This funding will enable Malton in Bloom to extend their fantastic work and ensure that Malton station and our town continue to flourish with vibrant displays and biodiversity that everyone can enjoy.”
