Transport for the north sets out its 2022/23 business plan

Transport for the North (TfN) published its Business Plan for 2022/23 setting out its vision to unlock the full potential of the North of England by developing transport infrastructure and services as a system that is user-centred, place-based and outcome focused.

The 2022/23 Business Plan builds on the foundations of its Strategic Transport Plan and Future Travel Scenarios and ensures that the new operating model is focused on being:

  • A centre of technical excellence for the North
  • A source of trusted information
  • A strategic thought leader and champion of strategic transport planning
  • An enabler of accelerated delivery
  • A trusted collaborator

Throughout 2022/23 and beyond, a key role for TfN will be to continue alongside its members and partners to use its knowledge and evidence base to demonstrate how investment in the North’s transport system remains central to enabling the communities and businesses of its region to realise their potential.

Martin Tugwell, Chief Executive of Transport for the North, said: “The publication of our 2022/23 Business Plan sets out the ambition of TfN as we move forward. It maps out our focus not just for the year ahead, but beyond that.

“Since its inception in 2018, TfN has become a regional centre for excellence for strategic transport planning. As we move forward as a smaller, leaner organisation, we will focus on our core role and responsibilities, developing our ability to support our partners as they turn strategy into delivery on the ground.

“We will continue to act as one voice for the North of England to ensure that the region gets the investment in its transport network that the people who live and work here deserve.”
