TSS Launches Innovative Work and Asset Management Platform in the Rail Sector

Nationwide professional infrastructure services specialist T Sumner Smith Ltd (TSS), is launching its innovative work and asset management platform, F0CUS, for the rail sector.

Managing Director and experienced quantity surveyor Nick Smith and his team have developed F0CUS after looking at ways to eliminate the need for spreadsheets and off-system records. Recognising the inherent inefficiency and risks of multiple spreadsheets, Nick said F0CUS represents a step-change in the way infrastructure contracts and projects are managed.

The cloud-based platform has been successfully utilised in the utilities sector, underpinning remote working and is now ready for release to organisations in the rail industry.

He said: “Burning the midnight oil trying to make sense of a mass of spreadsheets is something that many of us have had to do, and probably still wrestle with. Working like that is time consuming, frustrating and increases the risks of error.

“The aim of F0CUS is to change that. It is an innovative work and asset management platform which works with you to increase efficiency across your contracts. It is ideally suited to new build construction, repair and maintenance and asset management contracts.

“With its modular design, F0CUS can be configured to your exact needs, each module working both independently, yet also together, to give you the right data at the right time.”

Key modules are:

  • Planning – allocate and schedule orders (or specific tasks within an order) to a resource. Dispatch tasks to remote workers instantly.
  • Commercial management – recognise cost and value; manage myriad rates for clients and suppliers; fully configurable, for example by customer, work type, local area or scheme.
  • Supply chain payments – process supplier payments through various routes; supplier payment processing can be invoice / application led or via self-billing.
  • Applications and invoicing – via electronic portals or traditional application and invoicing.
  • Document management – store relevant data and documents alongside orders and schemes. Enables seamless integration into any organisation, including email integration.
  • Reporting – fully customise reports using data from all modules; present as traditional tabular reports or in dashboard format.
  • Advanced analytics – from tailor-made dashboards, through to line reports for detailed data analysis, and Enhanced Analytics for complex multi-source datasets.

F0CUS offers many advantages to businesses who use this innovative work and asset management platform including…

Nick added: “As our lifestyles and ways of working have changed with remote working and increased reliance on technology, water-tight IT solutions such as F0CUS are now more crucial than ever.”
