Women in Rail launches Kids Hour

Over the last 12 months, increased focus has been put on the need to safeguard our mental health during the prolonged periods of lockdown.

As we move into February, the emphasis is also on the need to protect the mental wellbeing of children.

Children Mental Health Week will take place from 1-7 February. It is an annual initiative launched by Place2Be, a children’s mental health charity that provides counselling and mental health support and training in UK schools, using tried and tested methods backed by research.

To support #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek 2021, Women in Rail is launching a series of weekly after school sessions – Kid’s Hour.

Kid’s Hour will take place every Thursday afternoon at 4pm and consist of a series of one-hour free online fun and educational sessions for the younger members of our community during which they will learn new skills, get a chance to speak to amazing professionals and have some fun creating some happy memories in these difficult times.

The first Women in Rail Kid’s Hour will take place next Thursday, 4 th February, and will consist of a fun and magical escape with award winning magician and showman, Richard Pinner!

The session is kindly sponsored by CPMS – Collaborative Project Management Services.

We invite all primary school aged pupils of our railway family (and older ones and parents if they wish!) to join us at 4pm by registering using the link below.

Upcoming Kid’s Hour sessions will include learning the authentic Maori Haka with ToaHaka UK, improving cricket skills with professional former England Cricketer Matthew Hoggard, fun crafts with Rutland Water Nature Reserve and a Photography Challenge with award winning photographer Andrew James!

Details of these events, as well as a link to register, will be released on the Friday preceding the event date.

Please note, that access to a PC, Laptop, Tablet or Mobile Phone is required for the sessions. Individual requirements for the sessions will be included in the registration information.
