Davis Wagon Services has announced a unique opportunity to name one of its shunting locomotives while at the same time raising vital funds for the York Special Care Baby Unit Support Group.
It’s a charity close to the heart of the Managing Director of the rail wagon maintenance and repair organisation, having experienced first-hand the impact of the support.
“The object of the group is the relief, care and treatment of premature and sick new-born babies in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at York Hospital, by providing and assisting in the provision of specialised medical or surgical equipment and improved amenities and facilities including education and vocational training,” explained John.
“Our Granddaughter Aurora was born prematurely on the 15th January 2025. The love and support given not only to Aurora, but to her parents Megan and Joe were second to none. Becoming a parent is challenging enough, however with the constant support of SCBU, Aurora was given everything she needed to give her the best start in life. We are forever grateful.”
Tickets to enter are a minimum of £20 and multiple entries of £20 are more acceptable, with a winning name picked which will then be added to a locomotive at its Ferrybridge depot. The closing date for entries is December 3. The winner will also be invited to attend a special naming ceremony. Visit www.justgiving.com/page/dws1995?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=EM
