ScotRail passengers could face major event-style queuing systems for the rest of the year at main railway stations when lockdown restrictions are eased.

That’s according to an article in the I newspaper, which says one-way systems on platforms and for boarding and alighting from trains are also likely, the operator Abellio has said.

Abellio said train capacity could be reduced to 15-20 per cent of normal, but it is waiting for Scottish Government advice as to whether passengers will be required to stay one seat apart and some seats blocked off.

Balfour Beatty Vinci has announced Michael Dyke as its MD for providing strategic leadership for the delivery of its HS2 main civil engineering contracts.

It is for the work between Long Itchington Wood Green tunnel to the West Coast Main Line tie-in, worth a combined total of £5 billion.

Greater Anglia has revealed new fogging guns that are being used to keep trains and stations clean.

They are used for spraying and sanitising large areas, using cleaning chemicals which kill different types of viruses.

The company says they are a good way to clean areas which are difficult to reach, quickly and efficiently.
