A train attempting to set the fastest time for the 401-mile journey between London and Glasgow has failed to break the record by just 21 seconds.

The article features in The Daily Telegraph, which says the special service completed the trip in three hours 53 minutes and 1 second, leaving a 36-year-old record intact.

The biggest rail workers union is warning members will take industrial action against cuts to transport jobs, pay and conditions.

The article in The Sun says it was spotted on a CrossCountry service from Nottingham to Cardiff.

After initially being unable to find anything, British Transport Police Officers and the RSPCA managed to track down the snake and put it in a box.
