Fresh strikes by London Underground drivers in a dispute over the Night Tube have been “solidly supported”, a union has said.
That’s according to an article on the BBC website that say RMT union members walked out overnight on 7 January and will do so every Friday and Saturday through to June.
The strikes over new night rosters will affect the Central and Victoria lines.
London Underground bosses have denied union claims new Night Tube rosters will “rip apart” members’ work-life balance.
Planners have given the green light for the construction of a new station at Bebside – the fifth of six new stations now granted approval as part of the Northumberland Line rail scheme.
The station will include two platforms, pedestrian lifts, road junction improvements and parking for buses, cars, electric vehicles, motorcycles, cycles, and taxis.
Construction work is due to get underway this summer.
Transport for London (TfL) confirms that, to date, it has handed 1,575 fixed penalty notices to people not wearing masks during the ‘Plan B’ period across its transport network.
Between Tuesday 30 November and Thursday 6 January, its figures say 43,123 people were stopped and asked to put their masks on when boarding services, which include the Tube, overground and the DLR.
Furthermore, 2,195 people were stopped from boarding, and 906 asked to leave a service overseen by the government body.
Several of the newspapers feature the news of the pilot who was pulled to safety by the police from the wreckage of his plane moments before a train strikes in Los Angeles.
The Evening Standard says bodycam footage shows the pilot being dragged from his plane after it was forced into an emergency landing on train tracks on Sunday.
The article says officers and pilot were just a few feet away from the tracks when the passing train destroys the plane.
