City Hall lambasted the government’s refusal to grant Transport for London (TfL) long-term backing, blaming it for indirectly causing tube strike action scheduled for June 21.

That’s according to an article on City A.M. that says the strike is the latest disruption to affect the TfL network after 4,000 tube workers walked out on Monday.

The Unite union working for TfL and London Underground said more than 1,000 of its members would join the RMT’s 10,000 workers striking over job cuts and the review of TfL’s pension scheme.

Talks aimed at ending a pay dispute between Scotland’s rail provider and train drivers are due to resume today.

An article on the BBC website says Aslef, the union representing the drivers, said on Tuesday it was hopeful of reaching a resolution this week.

It rejected ScotRail’s latest 4.2 per cent pay offer last week but “constructive” talks two days ago were adjourned after a 90-minute meeting.

Network Rail Scotland has partnered with British Transport Police (BTP) to raise awareness around the dangers of level crossings ahead of International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD).

ILCAD 2022 takes place today and this year’s motto is “Don’t put your life at risk, stay away from tracks!”.

This hard-hitting message has been chosen due to many areas reporting an increase in inappropriate behaviour at level crossings and near the railway during and since the pandemic.

A family have been left shellshocked after Network Rail workers reunited them with their pet tortoise Twin, who had been missing for eight months.

John Keeley, Matt Cooke and Tony Russell were carrying out railway inspections along the East Coast Main Line, when they spotted Twin walking alongside the track.

After rescuing the tortoise, the trio searched for the owners, tracking them down after a posting on social media.

Owner Lizzie Jeanes said she couldn’t thank the team enough for reuniting her with Twin, who has been in the family for 70 years.
