The RMT Union says transport workers on the London Underground and Overground network will take 24-hour strike action in separate disputes on August 19th.
Tube workers have been locked in a dispute over attacks to pensions and jobs for over six months while Overground workers employed by Arriva Rail London will strike over pay.
Up to 10,000 tube workers on London Underground and almost 400 Arriva Rail London workers will walkout.
A study to look at the possibility of opening a town’s railway station is to get under way.
An article on the BBC website says North East Derbyshire District Council said it was launching a feasibility study into reopening Clay Cross railway station, in Derbyshire.
The town is located on the Midlands Main Line but has no current station provision, with the nearest being in Chesterfield and Alfreton.
The council said the study was in its early stages.
Plans for a major upgrade to a train station in Barry have been given the go ahead.
An article on Nation Cymru says Vale of Glamorgan Council has approved plans for a transport interchange at Barry Docks train station.
The interchange, which will be located at the ground floor level of the council’s car park area to the east of the Grade II listed Dock Offices, will include bus stands, taxi stands, a public drop off area, cycle parking and electric cycle hire provision.
Train services in Essex were disrupted after an unexploded grenade was discovered at a railway depot.
An article on the BBC website says British Transport Police (BTP) said it was called at 11:44 BST on Tuesday to reports of a suspected device found at Shoeburyness Railway Depot.
The area was evacuated and services between Shoeburyness and Thorpe Bay were affected, the BTP said.
