Brighton landslip causes muddy problems for Southern

Nobody can have failed to notice the rather soggy weather we are having, and it feels like it was only a matter of time before it caught up with us, and there was a weather-related hiccup on the tracks.

Southern was the first to suffer a muddy issue, with a landslip closing part of the network today.

An announcement was made this afternoon regarding the incident, which took place in Falmer, near Brighton. Network Rail engineers are currently on scene assessing the damage and hope to have trains running at full capacity again by the evening rush.

Currently, all lines between Brighton and Lewes are blocked by the slippery issue, and any trains running between those stations are facing a 40-minute-long diversion, or cancellation.

Southern has asked those passengers to keep hold of their ticket as proof of travel, and they will be able to claim compensation for their disrupted journey. Replacement buses have been requested and updates will be provided as and when these are confirmed.
