Christmas comes early! RailDirector Issue 4 lands on doorsteps

The fourth edition of RailDirector magazine is heading to over 2,000 rail industry leaders and subscribers this week, just in time for the festive period. This month’s magazine reflects on the events of a tumultuous year and looks forward to what the future may bring, covering everything from track to train.

The December issue of RailDirector leads with an exclusive interview with Liam Sumpter and Ross Moran from Network Rail on the Stonehaven derailment tragedy. Liam and Ross were instrumental in coordinating the response to the disaster as it unfolded, and they share their experiences of that fateful day with RailDirector.

Editor, Dean Bruce, said: “We’re incredibly thankful to Liam and Ross for bravely sharing their experiences of the Stonehaven derailment disaster with us. The solidarity shown by everyone in the rail industry after this terrible tragedy is testament to the strength and togetherness of the railway family when disaster strikes.

“Our thoughts remain with the families of Brett, Donald and Christopher, and everyone else who has been directly or indirectly affected by that day. May it never be repeated.

“We also have a wide variety of interviews again this month. Natasha Hanson, Direct Rail Services’ Business Services Director, looks back on her achievements and improving diversity in rail; Liam Henderson, the founder of the Rail Innovation Group, talks to us about technological advancement in the industry; and Chris Price, North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s General Manager, speaks about the hard work it has taken this year to preserve heritage rail.

“We’re very grateful to all of our contributors for taking the time out of their busy schedules to talk to us. Our message remains clear – we will always help you to tell your story.”

Other features in December’s edition of RailDirector include Darren Caplan, CEO of the Railway Industry Association, who speaks about the challenges that 2020 and coronavirus has posed to the industry and his optimism for 2021.

Dean said: “2020 has been a trying year for many, but our features this month echo what we’re hearing from businesses across the industry – people are optimistic about what the future holds.”

This issue of RailDirector also features an interview with Sambit Bannerjee, Managing Director of Siemens Mobility UK, who reveals the company’s commitment to investing in the future with its new train manufacturing plant in Goole, East Yorkshire.

Christian Wiles, who leads the RBDPublications team, said: “The rail industry continues to grow, and the support for RailDirector since its launch this year has been overwhelming.

“A global pandemic may not have been the ideal time to launch a new magazine, but I am immensely proud of the success that RailDirector has achieved so far and the great strides we have taken in supporting industry growth.”

This issue of RailDirector sees the launch of Platform 1 – the first station stop for rail industry innovation – where we fix the spotlight on a series of upcoming products, services and organisations that are set to transform the industry.

Christian continued: “Platform 1 is set to be a big success. We’re showcasing before anyone else the innovative products and businesses that are set to take the industry by storm.

“I know our readers look forward to reading the latest news and views from the rail industry in RailDirector each month when the magazine lands on their doorsteps, and we’re already receiving a lot of interest about next year – advertising slots are filling fast across the magazine and for features in Platform 1.

“It really is humbling that the rail industry is placing its faith in us and we’re going to make sure that RailDirector helps the industry prosper.”

Christian added: “I’m sure RailDirector is going to be in stockings up and down the country this Christmas.”
