DRS heritage stock available to bidders

Nuclear Transport Solutions (NTS) has said a second collection of Direct Rail Services’ (DRS) heritage stock is now available for sale.

DRS joined forces with its fellow Nuclear Decommissioning Authority transport subsidiaries to create NTS, which launched in April 2021.

This sale will see a number of Class 37, 57 and DBSO carriages being made available. There are also two DVT vehicles on offer.

The items, the full list of which is available here, are being made available for sale through a competitive online bidding process.

Bidders need to register on the website and use the reference CTM 14996 to download the tender documents.

The process will run until midday 3 February 2022 and is another chapter in DRS’s push for lower carbon locomotives and ambitious fleet modernisation plans.

Chris Connelly, NTS deputy CEO and rail director, said: “We’re really proud of our past but as we look to the future we need to ensure we’re as efficient and agile as possible.

“We’ll be utilising our much more efficient and environmentally friendly Class 88 and Class 68 locomotives as we drive forward, ensuring that rail freight is as green as it can be and continue to emit much less CO2 when compared to road.

“This is a really exciting time at DRS and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
