The West Midlands’ second HS2 station could be given the go-ahead at a meeting later this week.

Insider Media Limited reports that members of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council’s planning committee are set to vote on the Interchange Station proposals at a meeting on Wednesday.

Under the current proposals, the station would include six tracks, 400m platforms and more than 7,000 parking spaces.


Transport firm Keolis is creating 200 train driver jobs in Wales.

That’s according to Business Live that reports the roles are being created to help deliver increased services and capacity across the Wales and Borders rail franchise.

Keolis currently employs 800 train drivers across the network, with the latest recruitment drive as it looks to further ramp up services.


Work has started today on the second phase of the £14.5 million Motherwell station redevelopment.

Over the next six months, the redevelopment work will focus on the main station building which will see changes to how customers access platform 2 and 3.

John MacDonald, Scotrail’s Senior Project Manager, said in the long-term, the redevelopment of the station will transform facilities for customers and create a gateway to Glasgow and beyond.

Finally, and Essex’s Dancing on Ice champion and Celebrity Gogglebox star, Joe Swash, is fronting a new campaign designed to teach children about rail safety.

The Stay Safe with Thomas campaign, launched by Network Rail and Thomas & Friends, is designed to give parents the tools to educate their children about how to keep safe when travelling on the railway.
