HS2’s Euston station will feature a roof coloured “bronze or gold”, the architects have said.

An article on the BBC website said designers hope the “innovative” structure will be an “identifying feature” of the north London terminus.

Its design will maximise the amount of natural light that reaches the concourse below, HS2 said.

Alstom is undertaking a £49 million signalling contract with Network Rail for the delivery of new signalling, level crossings and other assets between Farncombe in Surrey and Petersfield in Hampshire on the London Waterloo to Portsmouth line.

The delivery stages of the project will involve signalling, track and level crossing improvements between 2022 and 2024 and will benefit passengers travelling on the line between Woking and Portsmouth.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, about 40,000 passengers used the line every day, making it one of the busiest commuter routes in the country.

Work has started on the £35 million project to transform East Midlands Railway’s (EMR) Etches Park depot in Derby in preparation for the arrival of the company’s new Aurora train fleet.

An article on Insider Media Limited says the scheme, which is largely funded by rolling stock company RockRail, will be completed in two phases, firstly to upgrade the site to accommodate the new bi-mode Aurora fleet and secondly the construction of train cleaning areas, replacement offices and staff facilities at the site’s South Shed.


Two female transport experts have said more female staff, better design and checks for frontline staff are key to ending violence against women on transport.

West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) chief executive Laura Shoaf and Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) executive director Anne Shaw published a new set of recommendations on making the transport network safer for women and girls.

Commissioned by the Department for Transport, the recommendations set out how the government can improve safety for women on the railways, at bus stops, and stations.
