New rail business manager announced for ZF Services UK

ZF Services UK has appointed Simon Hargreaves as its new business manager for the rail service arm of the company, continuing its commitment to promote from within.

Hargreaves is promoted to his new role following six successful years as a key account manager in the rail division. He will now be responsible for overseeing efficient and effective delivery of rail sales, support and technical service, to customers in the UK and overseas.

With over 30 years of experience within the rail industry, Hargreaves has held a number of commercial and management positions within both rolling stock manufacturing and maintenance, having began his career as an apprentice with British Rail.

In his new position, Hargreaves said: “As well as being one of the world’s technology leaders in rail driveline, chassis and safety technology, ZF has a loyal customer base of well-established companies within the rail sector, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with them and building on these relationships.

“I’m also relishing the opportunity to immerse myself in the research and development side of the business to deliver high-end products that meet market demand. ZF Services UK has built up an enviable reputation in recent years as a systems supplier and engineering solutions provider for all makes of axle drive gearbox, and naturally I am delighted to be at the forefront of this.”

Hargreaves will now be responsible for ZF and non-ZF services for Rail customers in the UK, Ireland, and overseas. He will manage current contract commitments, develop new business opportunities, and lead Rail engineering initiatives through the global Non-ZF Engineering Centre of Competence based in Nottingham.

Gavin Donoghue, Head of Industrial Sales at ZF Services UK, said: “Simon’s great wealth of experience and expertise makes him a valuable asset to the ZF team. He’s built strong relationships with customers during his six years at ZF, and we’re confident he will excel in his new role as rail business manager.”
