Rail Innovation & Development Centre (RIDC) used to deliver Apprenticeship training

Bridgeway Consulting has successfully delivered a Rail Engineering Level 2 Apprenticeship programme as part of its commitments pledge for the RIDC Melton Infrastructure Inspection and Maintenance contract.

Launched in 2018, apprentices have been recruited locally from the Derby, Nottingham and Leicester areas where Network Rail’s RIDC Melton site enables them to provide essential practical work experience that consolidates their classroom based learning to gain their NVQ qualification.

Mike Harris, Professional Head of Infrastructure for RIDC Melton from Bridgeway Consulting says, “Our apprenticeship scheme not only provides jobs – it provides a pathway to a variety of careers within Bridgeway and the UK Rail Industry. Our original commitment to Network Rail was four apprentices per year and we have exceeded this by employing circa 7 per year since 2018 – a total of 37 to date”.

Satnam Thiara, RIDC Business Development Manager says, “Network Rail are pleased that Bridgeway Consulting has successfully delivered an apprenticeship programme that promotes local talent into the Rail industry and enables us to continue to provide a world class centre for testing, trailing and validating new railway innovation and technology”.
