ScotRail starts promotion to mobilise momentum of COP26

Scotrail is running a buy-one-get-one-free promotion to help customers inspired by the green message of COP26 – in the hopes they will cut out the car and keep going with rail.

From 14 November, the operator is launching the promotion which will last for two weeks, and will be valid for travel from Sunday to Thursday.

The offer is valid with almost all ticket types, including Season Tickets and Flexipass, Standard Class and First Class, plus the Kids for a Quid offer can be added too.

ScotRail  says it is committed to achieving net zero by 2035 and is cutting carbon emissions by over 10,000 tonnes annually, the equivalent of taking 2,238 cars off the road every year.

Comparing modes of transport, traveling between Edinburgh and Glasgow by train instead of car saves over 10kg of CO2 emissions which is as much as watching 109 hours of TV, or boiling more than 150 kettles.

The offer is available for outward and return travel at any time from Sunday, 14 to Thursday, 18 November and Sunday, 21 to Thursday, 25 November.

Customers can buy their tickets from any of the usual ScotRail retail channels, including mTickets.

Lesley Kane, ScotRail commercial director, said: “We’ve all been inspired to do our bit to cut CO2 emissions after the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow.

“Rail is already the most sustainable type of public transport, and we’ve launched this offer to encourage everyone across Scotland to leave the car at home and take the train instead.”
