The Forth Bridge Experience took a step forward when planning permission was approved by City of Edinburgh Council yesterday.

Network Rail plans to welcome members of the public to take guided walks on the iconic structure for the first time.

And permission to create a single-storey reception hub and car park in the development site at South Queensferry has now been approved.

More railway workers have voted to strike over pay, jobs and conditions, threatening fresh disruption over the summer according to an article in the Evening Standard.

The Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA) said its members at Avanti West Coast voted overwhelmingly for strikes and action short of a strike.

The union is also balloting members at Network Rail and several train companies across England. TSSA members work at stations along the West Coast Mainline.

A spokesperson for Avanti West Coast says they are disappointed about the ballot, remain open to talks and also that they don’t expect services to be materially affected.

A major route into Kirkby will shut for five weeks as work continues on a new £80 million train station.

Knowsley Council has confirmed County Road will be closed to vehicles from Saturday July 23 until Tuesday August 30 to allow Network Rail to undertake further work on the £80 million Headbolt Lane station project.

An article on the Liverpool Echo says the rail operator needs to close County Road between the junction with St Kevins Drive and the junction of Boyes Brow/Headbolt Lane to replace the existing bridge over County Road.

Cardiff and Wrexham railway stations have new arrival hubs for Ukrainian nationals thanks to Transport for Wales (TfW).

After some refurbishment, rooms within the railway stations now provide facilities that include an area for children.

Ukrainians fleeing war can use these facilities when arriving into the city before moving on to Welsh Government welcome centres or to family, friends or sponsors.
