Members of the biggest rail workers’ union have voted to renew their mandate to continue taking industrial action for the next six months in the long-running dispute over pay and conditions.
An article on City A.M. says the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) said there was an overwhelming vote in favour.
Unions involved in disputes have to re-ballot their members every six months to legally continue with strikes and other forms of action.
Rob Capener has taken over as the chief executive officer of the charity Railway Children.
In a statement Terina Keene announced she has today passed the role into the safe hands of Rob after 21 years.
She said: “It has truly been a privilege to lead the organisation over all these years, and to work with such an amazing and devoted group of people. I will be forever proud of what we have all achieved for children and young people, and this has only been possible because of the support we receive from you.”
Transport for Wales (TfW) and GCRE Limited have this week signed heads of terms for TfW to become a major commercial client of the Global Centre of Rail Excellence (GCRE).
The Global Centre of Rail Excellence is a £400 million research, testing and certification facility for rolling stock, infrastructure and innovative new rail technologies being constructed at the head of the Dulais and Swansea Valleys.
As part of the GCRE membership model, companies can take guaranteed testing and research time at the site when it opens, according to their innovation needs.

An article on the Evening Standard says Charles and Camilla have recorded a special message that will be played across all 2,570 UK rail stations and the 270 London Underground stations over the Coronation weekend.
It includes the King playing the role of station announcer to issue the most famous of all Tube warnings: “Mind the gap.”
