Greater Anglia will soon carry out work affecting March station car park.
A project to improve the drainage system will run from 13 December to 14 January. The rail operator says eight out of the station’s 83 parking spaces will be closed off while the work takes place.
The £250,000 project to renew all drainage pipework will be delivered in phases to reduce the impact on motorists.
Greater Anglia’s Senior Project Manager, Bobby Vijay, said: “This work only affects a small number of parking bays, so there will still be plenty of space for people to park.
“I would like to thank customers for their patience while we carry out this essential work, which is part of a wider plan to transform the station and offer a vastly improved travelling experience.”
The project is part of a package of improvements to regenerate Fenland’s railway stations, which is currently underway. The station is currently being completely remodelled to include an open-plan ticket hall and waiting area, accessible modern toilet facilities, retail outlets, and an upgraded and extended car park at the station.
The programme is being delivered through Fenland District Council’s Railway Station Masterplans project, with a £9.5million package of funding from the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, chaired by Mayor Dr Nik Johnson, and support from Greater Anglia.
The project aims to improve passenger facilities at the three Fenland stations – Manea, March and Whittlesea – along the Ely to Peterborough Hereward Line.
